From the query it's not clear whether you are Hindu or of some other religion. For Hindus law of adoption is codified under Hindu adoption and maintenance act of 1956 . Provisions for male and female is different,with that there are other provisions regarding Age of the adoptee and adoptor . The ceremonies of adoption is provided in the act .For further query contact.

U have to contact the authorities from where you adopted the child and follow their norms or if you have adopted from some relative then you have to file a civil suit for adoption with all the proofs.
