Hi , I am Hindu 31 year old girl got married in Jul 2018 in an arrange marriage set up at Kolkata . My husband works at Bangalore .I moved to Bangalore in Dec 2018 and my mother in law moved in Jan 2019 . My husband and inlaws confiscated all my wedding jewellery during my stay at my inlaws in July . They presdurised my father to set up the flat at Bangalore to which he complied and paid 1 lakh. Every month i was pressurised to hand a hefty amout of my salary . I was often demanded money or jewellery as result of matrimonial alliance else ill treated if refused .I was called a witch by my in law and husband often they abused me by body shaming me.They abondoned me saying that they would divorce me if otherwise .All ways to mediation between families and also at women's cell has failed as they are adamant . Lately i ve come to to know of their malicious intent that they are planning to seek divorce on grounds of non consummation of marriage . Kindly guide as to how can i protect myself
Sorry to hear that. In the above facts it is necessary to make a complaint under section 12 of Domestic violence act and you can simultaneously register FIR against them under 498a along with dowry prohibition act for demanding dowry and cruetly. This will be enough for them to stop troubling you.
