Couple mentally & physically tortured by Girl's family

I have a female friend who likes a boy & want to get married, but her family is not supporting her decision. They are both adult & hindu. The last time girl discussed with her family about the boy, she was brutally thrashed by them. Is there anyway she can seek police help for it & how ? The girl is grounded now. The boy is from delhi & the girl is from aligarh, UP. The boy can't go to the girl house as her family is filled with criminals. If the boys goes to her house, he will be definitely fatally injured or killed. The girl has access to mobile phone. What are the legal steps to be taken in that case to ensure the couple's safety & they can get married ?
