26-Sep-2023 (In Documentation Law)
I am a born Muslim with a non-muslim name.i am doing my pg.I did 10th class under CBSE.12th under Kerala board of HSS. Degree under Calicut University.doing msc in FRI Deemed University, Dehradun. Not married. My name is very childish & hence faces many mockery & questioning. How can I change my name into something mature & Islamic so that it is acceptable by society. What legal measures should I do? My father said now it cannot be changed. I m afraid of mockery from married family. Even kids of our family mocks my name. Is there anyway I can change it without affecting my studies? If yes, how much will it cost & how long will it take? What legal procedures should I follow?

Yes, you can change your through the notified procedure of gazette notification and publication in newspapers.

However, there is nothing wrong in a Muslim having a non-Muslim name or otherwise. Name is purely a matter of personal choice.

India is a free contry having a strict democratic backbone. There is a solution but it takes its toll. Since u had almost finished all ur studies n obtained certificates it will be a heavy task for u to clear all the procedurs. Despite the monitary expense it will be a physical burden n time taking thing to achieve it.
cost around 50000 n time about 6 to 9 months.
Procedure includes paper publication gazatte publication affidavits n declarations. Court certificates etc

You can change the name by following certain procedure which includes Getting an Affidavit notarised, paper publication of change of name, gazette notification etc. After that sometimes you may have approach a civil court for a declaration which will be helpful in changing the name in all your certificates and records. Otherwise it would be a difficult to convince CBSE and all to change the name in certificates.
