Lawyer made me sign few documents before I heir him is it safe

20-Apr-2023 (In Documentation Law)

My husband just did send me court summons. I am yet to find the reason for the same. Most likely my husband has petitioned for divorce. I consulted a lawyer locally and he made me sign a form which I forgot to read. He said that by signing that form I was giving him the authority to represent me. What form did my lawyer ask me to sign..? Can I ask him to provide me a copy for the same..?

The document which your advocate made you sign is the vakalatnama in which you give authority to your advocate to appear in your behalf. You can ask for the copy of it from your advocate. You can also enquire about the notice which your husband has send to you.

You have signed Vakalatnama, by way of which you have authorized your lawyer to appear on your behalf. You may ask for a copy of same from your counsel, and he should have no objection in providing you the same.
