Hi Lawyers, I am in a relationship with a girl but we have been fighting a lot lately, I want to get out of this relationship but I am afraid that she may falsely accuse me of sexual assault or rape. I have even told her about my fears. She was understanding and said that she does not mind signing a contract saying she was not forced to do anything or any other such contract which says that she was not sexually assaulted or raped by me and everything was consensual. Right now I have also obtained an email confirmation from her for the same. The email states that I have not harmed her in anyway and she confirmed to this email. My question is, is this email confirmation enough or do I ask her to sign a contract . Thank you.

Sorry to know about your situation. Your apprehension is quite understandable and therefore you want to fortify yourself so that nothing untoward happens in future. If you have email to that regards then it is ok but it would be better if you talk with an advocate and sign an agreement.

Tell her to Sign a Contract and Video Record both of you while signing that Contract. If possible, keep two Witnesses too who will in Court testify that they have seen her signing the Contract without fear or under any pressure, with her free will.

First of all preserve that email and also close this chapter with good ends. Also if you find that she will revert badly then you can go with Memorandum of understanding that you both have only friendly terms and get it notarised.
