Registration of Divorce: Is this a thing ?
20-Feb-2023 (In Divorce Law)
We got divorced recently by mutual consent and the decree is out. I have received the certified judgement copy.
I am now applying for immigration. My immigration consultant insists, that much like registration of marriage, i need to register my divorce and obtain a certificate which would be produced as proof of my marital status as "Divorced".
My lawyer says there is no such thing and the judgement copy is the end.
Can somebody advise ?
hi.
there is no such thing as registration of divorce decree. court decree is the only document that is accepted as evidence of divorce. your lawyer has stated it correctly and hence no further action required
