Regarding agreement not to contact my ex-girlfriend
01-Mar-2023 (In Divorce Law)
I'm a MBA student who had been in a serious relationship with a girl from last three years. Her parents were unaware of the relationship as per the girl's wish, she wished to disclose the relationship to her parents at a particular time when both of us reach an important level in life as they were conservative but somehow her parents came to know about the relationship indirectly and started harassing me and my family as they were too possesive for the girl. When we reported the incident to the police station, police tried to solve the matter internally between two parties and it ended with agreements from both sides that both the parties will never try to contact each other in future. Agreement were on a plain paper having signatures from both parties. I signed on the agreement so that the matter can get paused for a while. What can be legal consequences if I try to contact the girl?
Hello! The agreement that has been signed by you and other party if it is made and signed in front of the police officer, then if you meet the girl again the police officer on complaint of her parents can take action, but such an agreement has no legal effect in the eyes of court though, only if it is not duly registered or notarized and is not signed by witnesses.
