The fact that he has stayed away for 6 months has to be combined with other factors like grave differences between the parties, cruelty (physical or mental) etc and that can be made valid grounds for divorce. Proper advice can only be provided once all facts are discuss so please contact if required.

Though desertion for 2 year requires in case of filing divorce. However it can be a ground for mental cruelty in addition to other facts.
The main thing here is that what you want ?
First you have to ascertain about it and only then course of action can be decided in this regards.
