Name change - Hindu Marriage Act

Hi Team My wife had a passport with old surname. However, post marriage the surname changed. Since her job is related to travelling and in future she might need to go abroad on a professional tour, her question is related to passport change. Now, someone told her that she need not change name / surname in Passport and she can use old passport without any issue. However, her name is changed in Aadhar card. Please advise further if name change in passport is required?

You can give the marriage certificate to passport office and if not available you can registered your marriage and can go for updates in passport for fo details please free to call or text me will guide you accordingly

From a technical standpoint, an issue may arise when she goes to renew her passport, as the new surname on her Aadhaar card will not match the old surname in her current passport. I strongly advise addressing this matter promptly by updating the necessary documents.

hi , yes sir the passport needs to be changed as it may be required at the time of visa and if there will be any mismatch it create problem better to do the changes as all other documents are already changed . it will be helpful for further purpose as well .

It is always advisable to use the same names in your passport and Aadhar. Therefore, my suggestion for your wife would be to update her name in her passport as well. If there are discrepancies between names in different documents, it can lead to problems in future.
