I am jain by religion. I recieved money from my father in law of about 20 lakhs on the day of marriage. Will this money be returned to him at the time of divorce.
No. All gifts you received at the time of marriage is your streedhan. All gifts from your parents, inlaws, relatives which you got at the time oc marriage is your streedhan, you dont need to return it at the time of divorce.
what ever you have received money from your father in law at the time of marriage you have to return it when they ask for return in the court with condition it should be white money and they have to be prove it.

It depends upon you and your in laws whether you will have to pay Rs twenty lacs or more .
You cannot judge what course of legal action they will take .
More likely is that you will have to pay all the expenses done by your in laws in the marriage
