Dear Sir, It is a serious case regarding financial matters. If you do not attend evidence may be recorded as they may like and at the end huge monthly maintenance will be awarded from the date of petition and you are liable to pay the same. If you attend the Court some sympathy may be extended and a small amount may be awarded as maintenance

If your wife has filed maintenance under section 125 CRPC then you have to present yourself through your legal representative in the court. If you will not present in the court through your legal representative then case will be heard and order will come ex parte against you after sending three notices from the court. So it is always better to present yourself and contest the case and and fight the case and you can get the relief from the court . You need not to go to the court every date you have to present only few days which is required mandatorily.

when she has to attend to give evidence it is not necessary that you are required to attend as your lawyer will be attending, the only drawback is your will not get first hand information and if any thing is to told to advocate you will miss that as you will not be present, if it is hard to attend your lawyer can cross examine partly and later you can attend and proceed accordingly.
