The only legal implication is that an aggrieved person can claim damages if wrongfull loss has been caused to such person but still in such case reason for engagement breakoff has to be seen in the light of the facts and circumstances of the case.

Actually in such cases the entire thi gs depend on the will of the parties if they are so upset that they are ready to go to any extent in order to harass you then they can file a complaint of cheating and 3/4 dowry prohibition act.

there is no heard and fast rule as such.
Depending upon the level of relationship, you have had, will ensure weather there any legal action should be taken or not.

There is no legal implications as such as per law,But if you think that there has been a atrocity committed against you then you can go ahead and file a suit for damages or even defamation for harming your reputation and wasting your time ,money and efforts that is the only remedy.Please contact for further details thanks.

There is no law which requires any penalty for breaking engagement. However if one party has incurred sole expenses towards the engagement then they may try to recover the same by alleging that the same was broken due to a dowry demand being unfulfilled. Therefore break off as amicably as possible.
