If it is not a mutual consent divorce the time taken for getting a divorce varies as per the fight your spouse puts up, if opposing the divorce, and the evidences of the grounds of divorce. the consequences of a re marriage before divorce is just that it is not recognised by Law , bigamy.

It is not clear from the query that under which Law and under what provision Divorce petition has been filed. In any case no can state about the exact time period within a contested Divorce Petition gets over. Even if a decree is passed, aggrieved person can approach the appellate Court.
Contracting a second marriage while the divorce petition is pending will adversely affect your case. That apart that will be a ground for other party also to seek divorce on that ground.
Contracting a second marriage during the subsistence of first marriage is an offence punishable under section 494 of Indian Penal Code, which if proved is punishable with imprisonment which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine. .

You can't marry any other person before getting the final verdict in your divorce case and it becomes unlawful and you might be punished also and through this you will commit adultery or bigamy and you may not get alimony or maintenance if you are a woman, as you have not mentioned your gender here I can't specify he or she ? So don't do it and wait for your divorce. Meanwhile if not mutual consent divorce means other form of divorce will take time which we can't tell it may be 2 years or 7 years also depends upon your advocate and also the mentality of the parties and court various circumstances matters.

Sir/ Madam,

You cant marry any one during the pendency of the divorce petition. (There may be chance that It may show that you are living in adultery for that you have avoided the present husband/wife. ) Please wait till the disposal of the case. Other wise it may effect your reputation

There is a provision that the matter may referred to mediation and there you can settle the matter immediately. In case if the divorce is of Mutual Consent you need to wait for 6 month Compulsory.

Please wait let the present petition may finish it off.
