how to get divorce after extra marital affair

Hi.. The guy is married and having a extra marital affair with a girl..because he is not happy wid his wife for some personal family issue and some how his wife got to know about the extra marital affair long time back but still she is not giving divorce and not leaving his house aswell. but the guy wants to file an divorce.. what should he do and what will be the consequences if after filing divorce his wife claims for the extra marital affair..
If the husband files divorce he will be entangled into cases badly and will have to pay maintenance and alimony to a huge extent, ask the husband to settle it among themselves anyhow so that he saves some money and years

He can file contested divorce against his wife. But after appearing the suit his wife will Filed a Petition under section 24 of H.M. Act( if the parties are Hindu by religion) for alimony. After hearing he has to pay the alimony to his wife first. Then the case will proceed. For further details consult with the professionals.
