Since both parties agreed to a mutual divorce in September 2024, but the groom's side is now deliberately delaying the process, you have a few legal options: Steps to Take: Send a Legal Notice – A formal legal notice can be sent through your lawyer, demanding that they comply with the agreement and file the petition as per the mutually agreed terms. File a Petition Unilaterally – If they continue to delay, you can consider filing a contested divorce under grounds such as cruelty (mental harassment) due to intentional delays and emotional distress. File a Recovery Suit for Dowry – If they are delaying to escape returning the dowry, you can file a dowry harassment case (498A IPC & Dowry Prohibition Act) or a civil suit for the return of streedhan and dowry amount. Approach the Court – You can file an application before the family court stating that the other party is not cooperating despite an agreement, requesting necessary orders to expedite the process. Mediation Request – If you still want a mutual divorce but they are intentionally delaying, you can request the court to summon them for mediation, putting legal pressure on them. If their intention is to harass and evade returning dowry, legal action (civil and criminal) can be an effective way to make them cooperate.

you should furnish the minimum information for giving correct advice i.e., how many years ago was your marriage? have you both been blessed with any children? in the absence of the above information, I can suggest you to proclaim that you are going to 1) initiation 489A proceedings by lodging a report with police, 2) maintenance case (if applicable), 3) domestic violence case. then definitely the groom comes your way without creating any hurdles.
