Dear Sir,
Under Indian law, a husband can claim maintenance from his wife only in exceptional situations. If the husband is genuinely unable to earn, is physically or mentally incapable of maintaining himself, and the wife has a stable income, the court may order her to pay maintenance.
However, the mere fact that the wife is a government employee does NOT automatically mean she must pay maintenance.
