No need of marriage certificate for filling any kind of litigation against opposite spouse or against the parents, that one is not mandatory requirement. Only you have to file any document which shows that your marriage got solomnised such as marriage card, photos that one are enough.

Yes , at least you need to show certified copy of marriage certificate while filing these cases against opponents. For Domestic violence case you need certified copies of marriage related documents. For Custody Case and Maintenance cases you can submit certified copies or true copies of the same.
