You must have received the copy of divorce petition along with court summons to appear and file your reply to her petition. The reply must be filed with in resonable period and as you said that she has asked for 25k alimony , there may be separate application with the petition for interim maintenance till the disposal of the divorce petition. And you have to reply to it appropriately.

If you are residing separate from last eight years. And if she had not moved further with her previous domestic Violence case then she is not now entitled for maintenance amount. Cruelty is on you not on her. she had moved away from your company. If she had filed divorce Petition then you can file counter claim with prayer to have divorce but without passing any order of maintenance either monthly or permanent alimony.

you need to first contest the interim maintenance application and thereafter decide how to contest the entire petition. maintenance is a woman's right and it will be granted to her by any court. the only thing that can be done at this stage is to convince the court that she is not eligible to get 25k and reduce the amount as much as possible. thereafter based on the remaining ingredients you can contest the rest
