Divorce my mutual consent but we live together right now

28-Jun-2023 (In Divorce Law)
My husband and I would like to separate amicably. We have been married for 5 yrs. We are not looking for splitting of assets, alimony, etc. I would like to initiate a divorce now, so in six months time we are divorced. We are both keen that the divorce proceedings should be as smooth as possible. Questions: 1. Can I initiate this without having to visit a lawyer's office? 2. What is the total cost of getting this done? 3. We are living together right now. Can I still file for mutually-consented divorce? 4. Can we skip the counselling sessions?

Its advisable to appoint lawyer rather than trying to represent yourself as it will just delay proceedings if you go by advices available on net. Secondly you need to get counselling done before divorce is granted 6 months will not be the period you will get divorce only after all procedures are followed by court. Cost depends on lawyer you appoint.

Yes you can file it but it is legal aspect you better engage an advocate to represent the case. The petition is required to draft with carefully under the law. The drafting of petition is wrong the consequences that the petition will be dismissed. Both parties must agree for mutual consent divorce.
