Divorce Counselling by Video Conference

21-Oct-2023 (In Divorce Law)
Hello all, I am a NRI working in england & my wife is from canada, we had maaored in india & now we have a mutual divorce. For our 1st counselling i was physically present in india family court & my wife was on video call from canada. I had earlier informed our lawyer that i will not be able to be in india for the 2nd counselling, so he said we can do via both on video call. But after 1st counselling my lawyer told me, i need to be physically present for the 2nd counselling as the court does not allow both parties on video call.. he said one has to be present & if i miss it he wont be able to do anything. Is this true ? i feel something is wrong here. as earlier he said that we both can be on video call. but after we had a small misunderstanding, now he changed his statement, making it nearly impossible for me as the only way i can be in india for the 2nd hearing is by quitting my U.K job as informed by my company. Someone please help me with this as i dont know what to do ?

Sorry to know about your situation. Your counsel should insist the court for holding video conference for both the parties. Court needs to be convinced. Your counsel should file an application before the actual date and try to convince...

Well, I do not think so, Court would have been this partial towards Woman, your Lawyer is misguiding you certainly. If Court can allow one party to attend through Video Conferencing, Why it cannot allow the second other party!

Hello, VC is allowed from your place. no need to come physically to India except on the day of judgement and decree. You can file an application before court to allow VC proceedings before Counsellor of Court. On video call also it is allowed.
