Copy of Mediators/Counsellor's report

30-May-2026 (In Divorce Law)
Can the petitioner who filed the divorce petition obtain a copy of the counselor’s or mediator’s report directly from the Copying Department of the Family Court, Bandra, given that she currently does not have a lawyer and her file was recently returned? Will the Copying Department issue this report to her, or is it treated as confidential? can we get access to this report??

Generally, counselling/mediation reports in Family Court proceedings are treated as confidential. A party may apply for inspection/certified copy, but issuance depends on court rules and the Judge’s permission. The Copying Department may not issue a confidential report without a specific court order. Consult the concerned Family Court registry.

Generally, mediation/counselor reports in Family Court are treated as confidential, and the Copying Department may not issue them as a matter of right. Access depends on the nature of the report and the court's directions. I can help you check whether a certified copy can be obtained in your specific Family Court case and the procedure to apply for it.

File a certified copy application before the Family Court Copying Department. If the application is rejected, obtain the rejection endorsement/order. Move an application before the Family Court Judge seeking inspection and/or certified copy of the counsellor's repor

A petitioner may obtain certified copies of documents on record; however, counsellor's and mediator's reports are generally treated as confidential and are not routinely issued by the Copying Department. Access usually requires permission from the Family Court through an appropriate application. Therefore, the petitioner should apply to the concerned Family Court seeking inspection or a certified copy of the report, subject to the Court's directions.
