Dear client based on your question, chosing between monthly maintenance and one time settlement depends upon your financial conditions. Since you mentioned you are a government employee it would be better if you go for one time settlement to avoid any future complications. For better further information and legal guidance we can assist you .
Dear Client,
Your decision between a one-time settlement or monthly maintenance depends on several factors. Here’s a breakdown:
One-Time Settlement:
Advantages:
It ensures finality—no future obligations or uncertainties.
Protects you from any future increase in your salary or other liabilities.
You can move forward without financial entanglements.
Consideration: If the settlement amount (e.g., ₹25–₹50 lakhs) is within your capacity and provides peace of mind, it can be a good option.
Monthly Maintenance:
Advantages:
It spreads the financial burden over time, making it more manageable.
It could be less expensive overall if your spouse remarries or becomes self-sufficient.
Risks:
The amount can be revised later based on changes in your income or her needs.
It creates a long-term obligation.
Given your ₹56,000 salary, a one-time settlement is likely better as it ensures closure. However, ensure the settlement is reasonable and negotiated with legal guidance to avoid undue financial strain.
