The 2005 amendment to the Hindu Succession Act ensures that daughters, including married daughters, have equal rights and are coparceners in the ancestral property of their fathers. Yes your daughter has an inherent right in the property. You can also file a maintenance petition for Your daughter

Is the grandfather alive? A grandchild can inherit their grandparent's property only if their parent through whom they are related to that grandparent has died before that grandparent. However, you can claim maintenance from your daughter from her father.

Your sole focus should be on determining whether your grandfather's property was self-acquired or ancestral, and whether he left behind a will. If she was residing there while your grandfather was alive, then yes, she does have a legitimate claim. Don't waste time on anything else—this is the heart of the matter, and you need to address it with unwavering determination.
