Hi,

If your husband and in-laws are harassing you, ask your parents to interfere and hold talks with your in laws and see if this can help resolve the issue. If your husband and your in laws continue to harass you, then file a complaint of domestic violence against your husband and in-laws. You or any other witness to the stated cruelty on your behalf can approach a Police Officer, Protection Officer or can directly file a complaint with a Magistrate for obtaining orders or reliefs under the Act. The court is required to take cognizance of the complaint by instituting a hearing within three days of the complaint being filed in the court. The Magistrate shall give a notice of the date of hearing to the Protection Officer to be served on your husband and on your in-laws and such other persons as directed by the Magistrate, within a maximum period of 2 days or such further reasonable time as allowed by the Magistrate. The court is required to dispose of the case within 60 days of the first hearing. This can be best option to keep your husband's and in-laws' cruelty in check. If your husband file for divorce, file maintenance petition and contest the divorce case on merits. Feel free to contact me for any assistance.

Put your worries at rest. Kindly dont do any acts in haste as that would become a ground for divorce. Let us know your religion you belong to and when the marriage took place. are u at inlaws house or parents house?
