Can a major daughter claim pocket money from father?

01-Apr-2025 (In Divorce Law)
I got divorced in Feb 2025 through mutual consent after wife caught in infidelity. Daughter is 21 years old. Per settlement deed, I pay 60% of education expenses for my daughter and 60% for my son. Daughter doesn't stay with me and neither visits me; my son (minor) stays 1 month with me and 1 month with his mother. Daughter's education expenses per year are 9 lakhs. Now, her mother is asking me for 60% of her 20K pocket money to be paid by me. Am I legally liable to pay? Please suggest. Thanks!

Although a major unmarried daughter reserves the right as per law to claim maintenance. However since in your case there is a legit settlement agreement, any claim towards any payment will have to pass through the filters of the agreement. If there is no agreement related to other expenses apart from educational expenses, you can't be forced to pay the same.
