Can a husband ask for relief if wife cheats

My friend cheated on her husband and the husband has all the proofs and written and verbal confession of the extra marital affair. In this case, can the husband ask for relief or lodge a defamation case against the wife ?
he cannot file any defamation case or criminal case against the wife but he can use all the evidence to get divorce from her and also she will not be entitled to get any maintenance from husband or any property rights of the husband in that regard

In this case it is well settled law that self incrimination is not permissible under law therefore her confession of extra marital affair is immaterial unless and until proved with strict proof

Yes on the ground of mental cruelty and on the ground of adultery he can file divorce petition but defamation is not there unless she text or published against him or discuss with third person anything which seems to defame him.
