Remedies if being defamed on social media website

One of my friend is posting bad things on his wall, putting my photo and saying that I am a fraud, I loot people, I am a cheat etc etc. which I didn’t do at all. But being jealous of me, he is doing all the wrong things. What should I do? Coz he tarnished my image in all my circle and friends now.
Hello client as the matter I have described here is a serious offence under IPC. The person who is doing all this mischif should be punished and this matter must be reported to the police as well as to the cyber crime cell so I can have rid of this over all matter

You should send a nicely drafted legal notice by an advocate. The legal notice should be aggressive to restrain your friend from further posting any other thing. Also he should ensure that he does not defame you any more while being liable for the defamation already done.

1 That you can send him a notice for removal of those abusive/offensive comments/statuses/posts etc. from his/her social media accounts, etc.
2. That if he/she removed those offensive article than its good, otherwise you may demand from him/her to tender his/her unconditional apology, and
3. That upon being non compliance of your demand notice for apology you may knock the door of law by lodging an FIR into the nearest Police Station, and
4. That upon non-action, consequence failure of the concerned Police Station you may also go to the Hon'ble Court of concerned Magistrate for further,
