Can someone file defamation case for tarnishing image in society

A girl filed Fir against me that i have created her fake accnt on some social networking site on 30/01/17. Now it is almost six months but no chargesheet filed by police yet. But the girl already have spread ill against me in newspaper and some news media before any conviction. Is this legally correct to forcefully make someone accuse and defame him without any evidence. Can I sue her for defaming me and spreading this thing among my frnds.I have never talked with that girl nor she.She was my classmate.Accrding to the fir her close frnds told her that I(myself)have created her fake accnt.On the behalf of that she make me accused. But i m suffering very much due to this.
Yes since no case is made out against you and even not 90 days are passed no charge sheet has been filed, as you have undergone mental torture and you name is maligned in eyes of right thinking people of the society, you can file defamation case u/s. 500 of IPC and also demand for compensation against her.
