When an account is frozen due to a cyber-crime complaint, the bank acts only on written instructions from the Cyber Police under Section 102 CrPC. If the amount deposited is suspected to be linked to any fraudulent or illegal online activity, the account is frozen pending verification. You must immediately approach the concerned Cyber Police Station and file a written representation explaining the source of funds with supporting evidence. After verification, you may request issuance of a Defreeze Report to the bank. If police do not act, you can file a petition before the jurisdictional Court seeking directions to defreeze your account. Prompt action is essential to avoid further complications.
