Police is definitely going to register FIR against the group of people because of the type of assault committed on the victim. NC is registered only for petty offences but this doesn't seem to be one. Therefore, the victim must go to the police station and register FIR against the group.

After commission of an offence the report of it needs to be filed as soon as possible without causing any delay or if any delay is caused then that delay has to be reasonably explained. In the given circumstances FIR will be registered based upon the medical certificate and eye witness testimony.
