What to do when husband surrendered to the police in DV case

My sis was married on June 2016. The husband was using her only for household purposes with no sense of responsibility and beaten her often for dowry purposes. He left her in her parental home within 6 months of marriage and fled since January 2017. We made several complaints fir and all but in vain. Now today on 4-5-17 he surrendered himself at local police station. Now what to do next
First of all you should make an FIR against the husband . Or u can make complaint to the jmfc if police is not responding to your complaint. Or you can send complaint to SP of the district for the same.
