What to do if your girlfriend threatens to kill herself? My girlfriend is threatening to kill hersel
17-Jul-2024 (In Criminal Law)
Hi Sir/Ma'am, I've been in a traumatic relationship for the past 2 years. Everything started off well, but in the last few months, my girlfriend started acting irrationally. After trying to resolve things, I broke up with her, but she retaliated by threatening to kill herself, forcing me to go back. Since then, I have tried breaking up 4 times, and each time, I get the same threat. I am very scared. I have a family that loves me too much and cannot see me in any trouble, which is why I haven't told anyone yet. What to do if your girlfriend threatens to kill herself? My girlfriend is threatening to kill herself. Please help me; I want an escape from this
So far as I can understand from your story, your so-called girlfriend just does not want you to live peacefully and is hell-bent on making your life hell. These threats are nothing but a planned and thought-out drama to keep you forcefully tied to her wishes and demands. She wants you to live like her puppet. Threats of killing herself are nothing but expressions of her sinister and evil intentions of not allowing you to move ahead in life. If she had any love and respect for you, she would have gracefully accepted the breakup and moved on. But she didn't. She won't shy away from dragging your family into trouble. In whatever way she threatens you be it on the phone, in person, through inbox messages on Email, Facebook, SMS, or WhatsApp, record and save those conversations. If you have not deleted the previous data of the said conversations, well and good, but if you have, then please make sure that whatever she speaks or sends now, you record/save that. Technology and social media is an effective way to expose and counter threats and lies. You can't keep on fighting this ugly battle all alone. I understand that you love and care for your family. Take them into confidence. Recall as many instances as you can of the times when she misbehaved and threatened you, write them on paper. Also add your interactions with her through phone, emails, Facebook, and WhatsApp. That will help in building evidence that it is you who is on the receiving end. Generally, the mindset of the society and police is such that they tend to believe what woman says. But once you have enough proof and evidence, that will be your weapon to nail her. But in the first place, try not to drag the police into it and resolve the matter with the help of your family.
Immediately file a criminal complaint against her, we may anticipate some reactions on the same but it is very important to safeguard yourself and mention all the facts about your traumatic relationship over the last 2 years. Or you can also file a civil case of injunction against her let's meet for further discussion.
Things have turned serious and you may come in trouble if your gf commits suicide and leaves a suicide letter against you. You are urgently required to normalize things and avoid any direct confrontation. Hope, she will gradually realize the matter. For the safer side, you may also opt for writing your miseries to authorities as intimidation which would help you in the future, if any untoward incidents happen in the future. For detailed discussions, you may contact me.
Hello sir! This is a serious issue if she commits any such act and leaves your name in the note police may arrest you under section 306 of IPC (Section 108 of BNS) whose punishment may extend to 10 years. In that event, I advise you to Inform the local SHO of the P.S . and inform him through an application stating that this girl has suicidal tendencies and you should not be held responsible in case such a thing happens. Inform the same to her parents and also make her attend counseling.
Hi Sir, I can completely understand the stress and trauma that you are undergoing. It appears that she is mentally upset over breaking up with you and feels emotionally insecure and vulnerable. At first, you should consider taking her for psychiatric treatment. At the same time, to protect yourself and your family I think you should consider filing a complaint with the local police authorities. You should also consider informing the State and the National Commission for Women that you are going through this. This preemptive action may protect you from suffering any harm in the future in case she takes any steps. We can help you and your family draft the complaints and also help you file the complaint. We are also happy to discuss this with you face to face as we understand the sensitivity and the pressure you are going through. Please feel free to call us. Thanks, Sanjeet
