Sir, 20 years ago, one of my friends was molested. The police did not peruse the case properly and tried to convince my friend not to press charges against the culprits (they may have accepted money from them). After 1-2 court hearings, my friend disappeared; due to a lack of evidence and my friend's disappearance, the court dismissed the caseRecently, after 20 years, I found out his whereabouts and spoke to him to fight the case. He said he may think of a request to reopen the case only after knowing the processCan you please guide me in this? First, is it possible to approach the higher court directly, and what is the procedure?

dear sir, Chek the status of the case. if the case has been adjudicated, you can prefer appeal to the appellate court. after 20 years the cade might be closed for appearance of complainant. there is no provision to approach Supreme Court directly

The procedure to reopen the case is by filing a criminal original petition under section 482 of the criminal procedure code before the Madras High court seeking directions to reopen the case. You cannot directly approach the Supreme court of India. You have to exhaust your remedies in the Madras High court before moving the Supreme court of India
