Under BNS, Section 356 (Exception 4), a true report of an FIR is protected. As a public record, sharing it isn't defamation if done for public good and without malice. Avoid personal comments as per the concerned provisions of law.

Hi there, in cases of defamation the offence largely depends on the words used and information shared. However, you can definitely share an encrypted message which will represent your point without pin pointing the exact issue/person. if you have any questions feel free to contact me.

FIR is only an allegation and not proof of guilt. Sharing the FIR or making public statements to the media that portray the accused as guilty can expose you to civil as well as criminal defamation under Sections 499 and 500 IPC. Even if the FIR is genuine, selective disclosure, commentary or sensational statements can amount to lowering the reputation of the other person in the eyes of the public. You may share facts only with investigating authorities and your lawyer. If any information is to be given to the media, it must be strictly factual, limited to the existence of the FIR, and without adding any opinion, conclusions or accusations. Avoid naming, tagging, or making allegations on social media platforms.

if the FIR has been lodged then it can be shared anywhere and there is no case of defamation for anything. So legally you can go ahead and unless the case is Under POSCO Act defamation is not applicable

You may engage with the media, but only with extreme caution. An FIR is merely an allegation, not proof. Share only verified facts, avoid opinions or exaggeration, and ensure no misrepresentation. Consult a lawyer before any media interaction to reduce defamation risk.
