Mental Harassment by mother in law

My mother in law abuses my husband and me for every single thing that we do per our wish. She is mentally harassing me from initial days of my marriage. She wants me to be separated from my husband as I did not get dowry at the time of wedding. She had kicked us from home 2 times already and now is the 3rd time that we are living on rent. Please suggest what can be done to rectify the situation.

First of all be happy that she abuses your husband also and appreciate that your husband is with you. The only advice i can give you is that start living separately from your mother in law, but dont ignore her completely. Take care of her by living away from her. All the best.

As you are living separately, now what do you and your husband wants, you want the property share our something else. Clarify it, so that proper suggestion can be given to you. You can contact directly in this regard.

If your husband is with you. You don't have to worry about it. Your husband has full share in his father's property, Consult with me or any other lawyer personally and disclose all the details in brief than only he can assist. For now I can say only that you can file case for partition and criminal complaint against your in laws. See if you create some pressure to your in laws than only they will take you and your husband back otherwise they will not bother about you. If you don't stand up for your rights, it will be curtailed soon. So take a call what you really want to do.

You can file domestic violence petition before appropriate magistrate and can seek protection order as well as maintaince order.


Also u can file case for dowry..
You have not mentioned time of your marraige and other details.

Hi, there are some parents who don't want to see the happy life of their children. However, I will not suggest any legal action against your mother in law. It it better, both of you (you and your husband) remain united and ignore any comments by your mother in law.
