Legal Assistance Required for Recovery of ₹4 Lakhs

04-Jan-2026 (In Criminal Law)
I invested ₹4 lakhs in a business based on assurances from a person I met via social media. I have bank proofs, chats, and audio recordings where he acknowledged the amount and promised repayment. He issued a ₹4L cheque in July 2025, which bounced. After repeated assurances till Nov 2025, he has now disappeared, switched off his phone, and blocked me. Police said it’s a civil matter. I need urgent advice on the fastest legal action and an experienced advocate in Mumbai, Andheri. WhatsApp me

This is not just civil. Immediately issue Sec 138 NI Act notice for cheque bounce. File cheating & breach of trust complaint (IPC 420/406 or BNS). If police refuse, approach Magistrate u/s 156(3) CrPC.

for this you need to file an application with the magistrate for directing the police to register FIR under section 175 subsection 3 of Bhartiya nyaya Suraksha sanhita, and if you want you can file a civil suit for recovery of your money but that will also come with court fees of 1.5% appropriately applied on the claim amount, you can seek help of msme or companies act of the udhyam or company is involved

I am a practicing advocate based in Mumbai with 7 years of experience. I have handled such type of cases a lot. First we need to issue a Legal Notice. Thereafter, We need to file summary suit for recovery of 4 lakhs. If you stay in Andheri, then we need to file summary suit in Dindoshi Court. Side by side, we can also file a criminal complaint with police station for cheating. Connect with me incase of more details and assistance.
