I m a young woman and my Neighbour vbally abused me and video taped me

24-Jan-2024 (In Criminal Law)

I was walking my dog when my neighbor started yelling at me, attacked me on personal front and abused my family. I told him he's wrong to talk to me like that but in the evening I gave him my piece of mind ( no abusive language) but he video recorded me w/o my permission. I m scared he will use it to float in colony's WhatsApp groups/ complain to cops. Please help me what to do?

You need not worry. If you haven't done anything abusive then your neighbour can't do anything. And if there is a fear that he/she will file a false complaint against you then you must be the one to file it first. You can always file a complaint in writing to the police station according to your jurisdiction.

Insulting a woman is a crime. However where a person apprehends that an attack might occur on him, he is justified in making a video of the event. if he complains to the police you can also get a cross complaint registered against him. you may as a precaution make a complaint of the same to the police before his complaint. should you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

If he has abused and also recorded you without your permission then he’s liable to be proceeded and prosecuted under criminals laws. He cannot do so whatever may have been the reason. Please understand that such behaviour is unacceptable

if your neighbour using abusing words and you recorded that scenario in your mobile you can longed the complaint under section 504ipc and 506 ipc they are threating you and you are scared of the scenario and second thing if you were not used abusing word and your neighbour record that scenario why are worry if you have used some threat words. then they will take action against you
