Keep calm and be confident. Always be touch with investigation officer who is investigating your complaint. Court will call you to record your statement and if court thinks fit then warrant will be issued in favour of your brother in law. And make sure you must have all the contact details about him.
Hi, First of all I appreciate you for your courage to fight for your dignity and respect. Please note that after you file a complaint with the police station, the concerned I.O. will lodge the FIR against the accused and then, he will call the accused for investigation. After investigation, the I.O. will put his remarks and after that he will file the same with the court concerned. In the court, the accused will apply for the Bail and then the court proceedings will start. First of all you will have to give your statement and then the counsel / advocate of the accused will cross examine you. After that you will get the opportunity to cross examine the accused through your advocate. The the final arguments and case is decided as per law.
Feels bad to hear that a person says such things to a lady. However if FIR is registered the case will be presented by the police in court . It can be under section 500ipc and few more sections depinding upon contents of FIR. Once the case is in the court your statement will be recorded then the advocate of other party will cross question you on the basis of your statement. And vice versa with other party. You need to appoint an advocate for the same. I am here to assits you with the same . You can contact further for more clariffications and court proceedings.
