Forcefully taking money by my father in law

I want to file a criminal case against my father in law . He forcefully took money from me in March 2018. Latest by when can I file a case against him. I have proof of bank transactions. What is the procedure to do this

why did he take money forcibly from you??
if the police refuse to register an FIR then file a criminal complaint against him.
