I have videos that I recorded from my phone which were edited and deleted by the accused, so is it necessary to have the phone from which the videos were taken?

It depends upon the kind of allegations and the offence. If the offence committed has videos as an evidence then the device through which it was prepared or saved in needs to be recovered by police....

Yes, it is very necessary. If you do not have such phone, then, your case on the basis of recorded Videos will get dismissed. It is because Videos from which Cell Phone were recorded are secondary piece of evidence and Mobile is a primary piece of evidence as per the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.

Yes, you should have the phone which has recordings. If you have filed the police complaint and police has registered complaint in that case police can ask the phone from which videos were taken. So your phone is very important for investigation.
