Can I file defamation case against my sister in law

During my marriage my sister in law trying to stop my marriage by making false statement against me and my family, where as when my wife's family came to see me and my family first time, my sister in law and my sister they only prepared food and served them, everything taken care by them, during that time she passed all positive opinion about me and my family. After two months we got married, during that she tried to stop the marriage. due to this we are not happy today.

yes, you can file a defamation case and that there is a Supreme Court precedent/citation where a DV case can be filed by the mother in law against her daughter in law, which you can file side by side just to create pressure on her to prevent her from whatever ill intentions she has in her mind.

Dear Sir, Your would be wife/wife may lodge a complaint with the Police about such unnecessary comments and giving trouble to you and her. Otherwise you may lodge a complaint by yourself before the Magistrate directly and thus teach them a lesson.
