Breach of privacy by Bank resulted defamation in family & Society

05-Aug-2023 (In Criminal Law)
A govt bank issued my bank statement to third party (my relative) without my consent. When I complaint this in bank, my relative spread the news to other relatives and society that I had made an attempt of getting them arrested by police (which is totally baseless, Even bank denied) so that I go to backfoot & he can save that bank officer. My relatives and society persons are everyday calling me regarding this, causing mental agony to me and my family. I am not able to concentrate on my work.

If you have enough evidence regarding spreading false information by your relative you can file for civil as well as criminal defamation case against him. Your case will depend on the strength of evidence.

Accept things as are, react calmly and wisely to any situation in life. First you must have mentioned how this happened. Was it your relative who made an attempt to receive your bank statement? if so How was he able to do so ? Did he forge your Identity? You must find out to file a criminal complaint against the said person and the official bank involved in doing it. Your remedy lies in the consumer forum for claiming compensation if the bank has revealed your information to a third party. It's violation of fundamental right. Privacy of every Individual is a fundamental right as ruled by the constitutional bench of the supreme court.
