right to translate published work authored by family member

17-Jun-2023 (In Trademark & Copyright Law)
My father, an Indian writer, had several stories and books published in his lifetime. He passed away two years ago. I would like to translate this work into English and bring to the world. nIf I were to translate my father’s story or a book into another language and choose to publish the translation online - would I need permission from the publishers of the original work?nWhat things should I be considering to make this happen ethically and legally correctly?

So first of all you need to first make sure that the entire work has a copyright in your father’s name.
Secondly, you must have an agreement with the translator for the purpose of handing over the work to them for translation and publication.

Well, We have to check first, the publishing rights are with whom? Whether such rights were assigned to them as Licencsee or the Publishers in themselves are Copyright Owners. Let us figure it out first.
