Your case falls under deficiency in service and product defect as per the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Even though the phone is out of warranty, an important point is that the defect occurred immediately after a software update provided by the company.

Hey, Going by the brief facts it is clear that you case involves potential deficiency in service and unfair trade practice by Motorola. Although the device is out of warranty, the defect appears to have arisen immediately after an official software update pushed by the manufacturer, not due to user misuse. Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, a manufacturer can still be held liable if a product develops faults due to defective software, latent defects, or negligent after-sales service. Forcing you to pay for repairs in such circumstances may amount to deficiency in service. It is my advise that hay you first send a legal notice demanding free repair or replacement, citing that the defect was triggered by their update. If unresolved, you can file a complaint before the District Consumer Commission seeking repair, replacement, refund, and compensation. Preserve evidence such as update logs, service reports, and communication with the company to substantiate your claim.
