Loss of money due to typo in account number by bank employee

23-Jun-2025 (In Consumer Court Law)
An international transaction was made from an Indian bank account to a European account. A bank form was filled with all details. The bank employee made a typo in account number. Due to the typo the money bounced, but due to buying and selling rate we lost Rs. 10,820.42 including service charges. We alerted the bank, and the manager apologized and admitted their fault, but dint compensate for the loss since they said the sender signed the A1 form. Is there a chance for me to get compensation?

Yes, you can definitely seek compensation. Even if you signed the A1 form, the bank is responsible if their staff made the error. As per RBI rules and consumer protection laws, banks must ensure accuracy in international transactions.
