AC scam by major manufacturers

Hello, I've been using Air conditioners for a long time. but since the past few years I have been noticing a huge drop in quality of the products regardless of the AC manufacturer. Before the summer begins the AC has to be serviced and the service people always say that there is a gas leakage and now gas has to be refilled and repairs have to be done or the coils or some other component has to be changed. for which I have to pay a hefty amount. then the same thing happens after two or three months and again I have to pay for gas refill. The reason they give me is that there is a large drain approximately 2 kms away and the gases released from it destroy the components again and again and this is why the gas leaks. why does the company not mention this when they are selling their product? is it not the responsibility of the company to manufacture and create a product keeping the environment in which they are selling it in mind?
