Widow mother physically assaulted by son what she can do legally

09-Jul-2023 (In Civil Law)
I am a widow who is 73 years old. I was being abused for a long time by my only son who is an alcoholic. A year back he physically assaulted me threw me out of his house saying that I was harassing his wife for dowry. It is to be noted that my son married in the year 1996 and he is due to retire now. The actual fact is he had built a house recently on land purchased from my deceased husband's retirement benefits and I had given about 20 lakhs from my ancestral property for construction. My son also used to withdraw money from my pension account by faking my signature. The land was bought in my son's name for loan purposes. He had taken only a meager amount as loan. Recently he transferred the ownership of the house to his wife. I approached the police station when I was thrown out of the house. They directed me towards a senior citizen redressal office. It is almost an year now and no progress. Can you please advise regarding the course of action to be taken by me?

It appears that you are still in the same house with your son and his wife. A law has come into existence wherein children shall not neglect but are bound to maintain their aged parents. You can file a case in court to seek appropriate orders.
