What to do when coworker refuses to repay money lent to him in cash?

I gave money - ₹10000 to one of my co-workers. That's was on 13 August 2017. He promised to return it back with ₹1000 extra on 30th September 2017. Till date I haven't received anything. I also found that he took money from many of our friends and coworkers. I gave him cash. So no transaction ID. However I've phone recordings and WhatsApp messages that he took specific amount and promised to return it. I also have witness who can say that he took that much money. He comes to office rarely and always gives false promises on daily basis. He seems like not running away however my money is stuck. It's 14th October and still I don't have my money back. I don't want any interest , I just want my ₹10000. Please help, how can I go into it legally. If I were to file a police complaint then where to do it? My area, office area or his area of residence?

We can proceed a criminal and civil complaint against the person as what's app messages and phone call is more than enough evidence for proceeding against him and convicting him in the alleged offence which he has committed

You need to register NC with police station. You can file a criminal case with JMFC along with NC complaint. Also you can file a recovery suit with. CJSD in your nearest area. Try to track his place for sending advance notice.
