Can Court dismiss the case if notices are not served after 10 years

Is it compulsory to withdraw case, if opposition do not reply after many years court themselves have send notice with bailiff but opposition wife said husband not at home so will not accept the notice on record I have been pressured by my lawyer in open court to withdraw the case or court will automatically dismiss the case as it is 10 years old registered in 2007 Surprising lawyer whom I paid heavily is forcing me in front of court when I said no they said will do needful I have been fighting with this last 10 year my rent is regular opposition is not replying so I am forced to withdraw the case how far is it legal and acceptable kindly guide they gave me date 11-5-17

No u can change your lawyer and tell us lawyer will take a constable and hand to hand delivery can be given or paper notice can be stick on his door and it's not like that judge will dismiss the matter it's upon the case also.

No,I do not understand why should your advocate gave you such advice, but according to me you should not withdraw the case, there are different ways to serve the notice with the help of honorable court you should take heip of the honorable court
